The summer of 2020, when I was just 9 years old, was the first time I ever stepped on a windsurf board at the Athens Nautical Club Summer Camp.
I tried Stand Up Paddle and canoe-kayak, but windsurfing won me over — I fell in love with it immediately!
I clearly remember telling my mother, “I’m going to stop everything else I do and do only this.” And that’s exactly what I did.
After a serious injury that delayed my progress — breaking both of my arms at the same time and staying away from the sport for six months — and with the additional interruption caused by the pandemic, I came back stronger in late spring of 2021 and I have never stopped since.
During the four years I have been part of the Techno 293 racing team, I have progressed from the Development category (U13 with a 5.0 sail), to the U13 category with a 5.8 sail, and I am now competing in the U15 category with a 6.8 sail.
Many of my teammates and I started together. We have grown up together, trained together, and continue to work hard at our Club, which enjoys some of the best wind conditions.
Since 2022, I have been traveling with the racing team to European and World Championships, experiencing incredible and unforgettable moments, unique emotions, and making many friends with fellow athletes from Greece and from countries all around the world.
Whenever I have a break from racing training and the conditions are right, I go wave sailing because I love waves, jumps, tricks, and the adrenaline that only wave windsurfing can provide.
Since the summer of 2024, I have also been practicing WingFoil, which is perfect for tricks, jumps, and spectacular tacks and gybes.
The feeling of “flying” above the water is magical, and the joy I feel when trying new tricks, jumps, and turns is impossible to describe.
Even when there is no wind, I will go Stand Up Paddle boarding or surf-skiing, because I want to spend every season and every day by the sea. I simply cannot imagine my life without boards and wind!
After Techno 293, which I plan to continue for at least two more years, I intend to focus on wave windsurfing and WingFoil. My goal is to compete in championships in these disciplines as well and to travel to many exciting destinations around the world.
